EASTPORT YACHT CLUB

Rules: This event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
Sailing Instructions will be available on the web site no later than 1 July, and will be provided in the skipper bag at registration.
Entry Due: Wednesday 23 July 2008 by 2200.
Entry Fee: $40. A late fee of $10 applies to all entries after Wednesday 23 July 2008. To qualify as an Official CASA Regatta Contributor, the minimum contribution, in addition to the race entry fee, is $50. NOTE: If paying by mail or in person, please make out 2 checks; entry fee payable to , and all contributions payable to AA CASA. Please note team name with all CASA contributions. When registering on-line at race.eastportyc.org, please designate fee distribution per instructions.

Classes: PHRF (Racing or Cruising Class) or One Design sailboats of 22’ LOA or greater. J/22, J/80 and Melges 24 entries are encouraged. Individual starts and class splits will be at the discretion of the Race Committee based on registration.
Eligibility: All Women–skippers and crew. There are no limits to the total number of crew. This is not a CBYRA High Point Event. Etchells One Design Fleet will be scored as the CBYRA Adams Cup Qualifier.
Rendezvous: 1000 hours near Region 3 Annapolis Area Mark “M” (“1AH”, Tolly Point).
Start: Between orange/yellow flag on Race Committee Boat and nearby race mark. PHRF Non-spinnaker see Sailing Instructions.
Finish: Between orange/yellow flag on Race Committee Boat and nearby race mark designated by posted course, unless course has been shortened after the start.
Course: Designated by letters displayed on main RC boat. The intent is to use windward/leeward courses for PHRF Spinnaker and One Designs. Multiple races are planned for each day. A Cruising Class (single race, longer legs, government marks) may be designated at the Race Committee’s discretion. See Sailing Instructions.
Signals: Races will be started in accordance with RRS 26. The first warning signal will be at 1100 hours. Starting order and fleet assignments will be available by way of an addendum to the Sailing Instructions by Friday, July 29 at Eastport Yacht Club web site, www.eastportyc.org and posted at the EYC clubhouse. Additional races will be signaled in accordance with RRS 26.
Scoring: The Low-Point Scoring System of RRS/US Appendix A2, as modified in the Greenbook Sailing Instructions, shall apply. There shall be no throw-out races.
Time Limit: Two hour time limit per race. No race shall be started after 1500.
Protests: Written protests must be delivered to RC Chairman within 2 hours of last boat finishing the final race of the day. Protests heard as soon as possible after racing.
Awards: For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd finishers in each class and for CASA Crew fundraising overall.
Social: Party and silent auction following racing at 1730 at Eastport Yacht Club. Regatta and fundraising trophies will be presented on Saturday, 26 July 2008 at the party. Refreshments included in entry fees.
Other: Please set a goal for your team to raise money for Anne Arundel County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). It costs about $3,000 for a CASA volunteer to advocate for a single maltreated child who is involved in the court system. These funds pay for social workers, legal support, volunteer recruitment and training, insurance, and office expenses. Each year, CASA volunteers dedicate more then 6,000 hours to benefit the most vulnerable children in our community. Let’s help support them as they make a real difference.
